In the Midst of Challenges, There Are Opportunities

As the government eases the restrictions of the quarantine and is slowly opening the economy to deal with the 'New Normal'. Many have emerged with something new in their sleeve, be it a new skill, knowledge, or an efficient routine.

The situation is not obviously the same for everyone, others have struggled and suffered. So, it is not right to say that they lack discipline or time to improve themselves.

To put it in perspective, when the quarantine started in March, I should have created more content for my blog. Unfortunately, being confined at home did not literally give me an extra time. It only gave me added stress because of overthinking that I should be more productive. My point is we are each dealt with different cards, and we need to play it differently to win.

If you learned a new skill, kudos to you. If you didn't because you have a family to prioritize, then you've made a great sacrifice. Always remember that as long as we are able to wake up the next day, we have a chance to turn things around.

Before you set out to face your own challenge, here are some key takeaways.

  1. Don't ever compare yourself to others. Their cards are different from yours. Once you start comparing, you will always see what you lack and not what you have.
  2. Set your mind and heart that there will always be hope, that there will always be a solution to a problem. This might be a difficult belief to hold on to… but always remember that humanity survived countless wars, pandemics, depressions, and among others. Yet, we are still here and able to progress so much.
  3. Anchor yourself. Believer or not, you can't deny that you have some form of belief/purpose as part of being you. Ground yourself to that to keep you moving forward.

If you want to run from your past, fine. But whatever you do, don't run away from your present or worse, your future.
